Buddy Holly backstage in 1958 Photo: DICK COLEI saw a copy of this photo at the Proud Gallery on John Adam st. It is definitely the best picture of Buddy Holly that I have ever seen. All of the photos that I usually see of him present the cliched 'Boy next door' image of him (chunky glasses, floppy hair, cherubic expression)
But this photo is like Buddy does James Dean. He appears to be wearing Rayban Wayfarers, which just goes to show you that they've always been cool. Way before you-know-who started wearing them in like every press photo ever.
He was younger then me when he died and this month marks the 5oth anniversary of his death.
