Driving a Wedge

Let me start off by saying that I'm not a 'summer-person'. Never have been, never will be.

So, consequently, I am always trying to sneak A/W garments and accessories into my summer outfits.

Shoes are especially troublesome because I like to be comfortable (I walk ALOT) but I don't want to be slumming around in Havaianas (their comfy but do you really want to wear them in this polluted mess of a city? your feet will be black within 20 mins!

I spotted these Opening Ceremony wedges on the b Store site and thought they would cross over brilliantly into S/S:

Now I'm sure Havaianas will follow in the footsteps of fellow Brazilian cult rubber shoe brand, Melissa and I will be eating my words. Until, then however I will continue to try and come up with creative solutions for S/S footwear. Some of you sceptics are probably thinking, 'But they're not summery'. Well, I live in a filthy (and fashion conscious city) not some beautiful tropical island were I can indulge my inner hippy, thus I feel that these wedges could totally work. And if you really feel that you must make them 'summery' some how, I suggest pairing them with some sheer socks (think the candy colours and whimsical patterns of Eley Kishimoto, Sonia Rykiel, Paul Smith and Tabio).

A Long Overdue Post About Eley Kishimoto And Fashion Week...

I was very lucky to obtain a ticket to the 'Jetset Masala' show on Sunday 22nd. The Wednesday before I received a beautiful plane ticket shaped invitation in the post (will post pics). I was very nervous as this was my first fashion show. Like a geek I showed up early.
It was unseasonably warm but I decided to wear my beautiful coat and skirt from AW04 because they are absolutely magical and very classic Eley Kishimoto pieces:

I paired the red coat above, with the blue skirt below:

After the show, which was quirky and wonderful (I even saw Diane Pernet who looks just as amazing in person as she does on her blog) I walked to the V&A to grab a snack. I lingered in the gift shop for a bit then walked back towards the BFC tent to use the subway on that side. As I was waiting to cross the road who should I see but Mark Eley himself!!!! He came up to me and commented on my coat. He told me that there were only about 20 in the world and that Catharine Deneuve had one. I babbled something about how great the show was and how thankful I was to receive a ticket. I shook his hand and babbled something about how I treasure my coat. I think after that he hopped into a taxi with the armful of clothes that he was carrying but I can't be sure as I was still recovering from the shock.

I would just like to state for the record that he must be one of the nicest people in the fashion industry and I don't mean bullshit PR nice. I haven't met Wakako but I'm sure she is just as lovely.

A magical day in my magical coat.

The next day I bought the Eastpak One bag in the blue flash print. It was like a designer Kinder Surprise egg:

If you have been thinking about buying one then do it now, before they are all gone. I love mine so much that I only pried it off after a near catastrophic coffee spillage in Leon's. I don't know how the coffee got on it (I was drinking juice) but the protective coating the bag comes sprayed with saved the day.
