£250 Tears

I still want this Rob Ryan for Tatty Devine necklace but at  £250 would I ever be able to justify buying it? Similar dilemma to the one that the Zaha Hadid Melissa Jelly shoes posed.

I keep hoping in vain that there's a second kicking around somewhere that they can't sell that maybe they'd offer at a discounted price.

Oh well.

It's Not A Crime

I have eagerly awaited the launch of  the Lime Crime Makeup website. And now its finally up and ready to go.

Do Deere (a living breathing Rainbow Brite doll, see below) is behind the line. I encourage you to check out her 'blogazine' .

Seriously, the line is awesome. It ticks boxes for outrageous colour and cute collectible packaging. What woman in her right mind doesn't want a sparkly unicorn on her lipstick tube:

The above images are from the Candy Future collection which is launching October 1st.

I love the line's fearlessness and devotion to the Creative side of cosmetics. I started wearing eyeshadow when I was 12. It was MAC, because at the time (here in Canada anyway) you simply couldn't get brighter coloured makeup. I paid for it myself with birthday money and such. I wore it up to my eyebrows like war paint. People made fun of me but I didn't care. I wasn't trying to be beautiful or sexy (not at 12 anyway!). It was just a creative outlet for me.

If I didn't have to dress conservatively for my job I'd still be at it!

I had to include this last pic, the CN tower is in the Middle! I guess the lipstick tube is meant to represent the Gherkin in London. I always thought that it resembled a lipstick tube in spite of the slightly ruder suggestions of others.

She's got L'Eggs...

One of my earliest memories is of a supermarket trip with my Mum and Nonna. I distinctly remember seeing rows and rows of plastic eggs, mannequin legs with hosiery stretched onto them and me popping open each egg and strewing the hosiery everywhere. I was fascinated by the packaging. why was it egg shaped, i wondered (I was 31/2 so visual puns weren't my strong point -yet).

why am I posting about this?

Well a week or so ago Susie Bubble posted about the new House of Holland tights packaged in their takeaway coffee cups. A faint flashback was triggered, plastic eggs containing hosiery in the supermarket (of all places), was I going mad, had I spliced two memories together?

Then it all made sense today. I even remember the eggs being different colours like metallic blue. A quick Google search confirmed that as part of their marketing strategy, they were indeed stocked in supermarkets. Perhaps Pretty Polly should consider stocking their HOH coffee cup tights in coffee shops?

After all what's a tenner for tights when you've just shelled out four quid for a cappuccino?
