On Pedestrian Sunday in Kensignton Market, these clothing racks on the street may have looked, at first glance, like your typical Kensington market sale but upon closer inspection they were dresses off the runway and one of a kind silk screened shirts by Toronto designer Chinedu Ukabam. Hotshots gallery was hosting Chinedu's show
Supafrik in which he curated carefully selected peices from African designers around the world. Including some of my personal favourites like Junk Prints and Ohema Ohene.
Probably the best deal in Kensington History. Had I know I would have brought most of my wardrobe!
An Afro-vintage photoshoot, design workshop and book reading were also part of the exhibit. The theme was based loosley on 'Urban Contemporary African'. It was really interesting to see traditional African design elements within a modern context. The influences of pop culture and urban street art were also evident.
Ohema Ohene
Running shoes with removable spats to go from low tops to hi tops.Genius.
Shine Shine

Everyone needs a batik tie. This is such a simple and beautiful way to accessorize with African prints.
