How you know that you're not in Cold Mountain (the inspiration for DSquared2 A/W 2011) is if you pull up your maxi-length prairie skirt and look at your heels.Yes beneath the granny boots if you look carefully, those metal things are skate blades!!! I'm not sure why this excites me so much since I don't skate (jelly ankles and general fear of smashing face) but it really does. I guess it's a little bit of Canadiana kitsch beneath all of the 'Wild West' glamour.
From the leather prairie blouses to the flares that look like they were made from sack this is a great tongue in cheek collection. The ten gallon hats are a little fussy but definitely convey the theme. It is not know however if the ice skate heels were just made for the runway. I'm guessing that they would make walking in the real world a little dangerous.
