Orange By Angela Chen A/W2011
Sexy, slouchy knitwear paired with colourful opaque tights, sheer pantyhose, shorts and ruffled tulle skirts showed a that there is a more playful side to Orange by Angela Chen. This is the kind of Autumn/winter dressing that I identify with; chunky knit dresses, oversized scarfs, stripes, layering. I like to feel cozy and not too serious when it's freezing outside:

Sid Neigum AW2011
This was a surprise treat for me. I showed up waaaay too early for the Basch show (who's the dork who shows up at 1:10pm, me). I could have sworn the show was scheduled for 2:30 but infact it was scheduled to start at 3:30. I was very kindly given a pass to see the Sid Neigum studio presentation which was starting at 2pm. I had never attended a studio presentation before and I must say I really enjoyed he intimacy of the setting. Because the scale is so much smaller you are closer to the clothes and can really appreciate details that you sometimes miss at a runway show.
I didn't know what to expect of Sid Neigum but the simple drama of his silhouettes and accessories hit me like machine gun fire. Not a hint of colour but black on black can be just as beautiful when textures and shape are at play. It was modern and yet reminiscent some how of an ancient time beyond our conception. The models resembled post-apocalyptic gothic warriors gone back to their hunter-gatherer roots. I think it was the embellished headbands and ponchos that really added a dark mystique to the collection:
